Aosic BioEnergy, a spin-off of biotech company Aphios Corporation, plans to develop and commercialize a novel, carbon-consuming biomass pretreatment process for the manufacturing of cellulosic ethanol and other biofuels. Aosic also plans to develop novel high temperature and possibly, high pressure, enzymes from extremophilic terrestrial and marine environments for further improvements in the enzymatic conversion of cellulose and hemi-cellulose to ethanol and other biofuels. Aosic's BioEnergy is raising its first round of capital to establish a pilot plant to demonstrate the CBP pretreatment process on a pre-commercial scale, and then to integrate a pilot plant into a Beta-site plant for the manufacturing of cellulosic ethanol.

Funding

In the process of raising its first round of capital.

Technology

Aphios has developed an improved biomass pretreatment process [the CFC process] that has the combined capability to defibrate biomass at low operating temperatures [US Patent Pending].
